Solar streetlights out of order for over a year

CHITRAL: Solar streetlights installed in Chitral bazaar about one and a half years back remained functional only for a couple weeks and developed faults.

The solar streetlights were installed in the bazaar at a cost of Rs9 million.

After the lights stopped working, no one came forward to repair them.

As a result, the funds provided by the government for the project went down the drain.

A representative of traders’ union told ChitralToday that they have brought the matter under the notice of the deputy commissioner lower Chitral as well as the commissioner of Malakand division.

He said if the streetlights were not rectified and made functional within a week, the union through its legal counsel would approach court.
