ISLAMABAD: The Hindukush Snow Sports Club (HSSC) Chitral was recognized as the best association for winter sports season 2018-19 by the Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan.
A shield was presented to HSSC President Shahzada Hasham Ul Mulk by Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Asim Zaheer, President Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan, in recognition of HSSC efforts for promotion of winter sports in Chitral at a function held in Islamabad on Friday.
Established in 2018 , the HSSC aims to promote winter sports in Chitral. It had sent two batches of children and youth belonging to Chitral to attend ski training in Naltar, Gilgit-Baltistan, in 2018-19 in collaboration with the Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan.
In February 2019, the HSSC conducted the first ever Hindukush snow sports festival at Madaklasht Chitral which was attended by a large number of national participants.
In April 2019 the HSSC inaugurated the Hindukush Snow Sports School at Madaklasht.
Within a short span of time, the HSSC has not only revived the British era ski site at Madaklasht but also promoted Chitral at national level, says a press release.
