Long march put off for one month on MNA’s assurance to resolve power crisis
BOONI: Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam here on Sunday decided to delay for a month its Feb 12 long march to Golen Gol against the longstanding power crisis in the area.
The decision was taken after MNA Moulana Abdul Akber Chitrali assured the Tehreek leaders at a meeting that a separate 10 megawatt transformer would be installed for upper Chitral within a month. Later, a separate grid station would also be set up at Qaqlasht for the area, he said.
The meeting was also attended by local administration and power utility company officials, traders’ representatives and notables of the area.
During the meeting, the Tehreek leaders briefed the MNA about the power crisis in upper Chitral and the government’s failure to resolve it even after the commissioning of the Golen Gol power station. They also demanded that steps should be taken for a permanent solution to the power crisis by installing transformers and setting up a grid station besides replacing the old transmission lines.
After agreeing to postpone the long march, the Tehreek announced that corner meetings would continue to be held to mobilize the residents so that in case of non-resolution of the issue as promised by the MNA, a long march to Golen Gol would be held on march 15.
