Bumburate road reopened

CHITRAL: A road in Bumburate valley of Chitral, which was closed to vehicular traffic in Dubaaj area as heavy boulders fell on it during the recent rains, was reopened on Tuesday, allowing hundreds of stranded tourists to travel to their respective destinations.
Executive engineer of communication and works division, Chitral, Maqbool-i-Azam told Dawn that the road had been blocked by falling boulders from the hill damaging it at many points.
He said the field staff of the department reached both sides of the closed road with machinery, and were able to reopen it on Tuesday afternoon after hectic efforts of two days, thus restoring the vehicular traffic.
Mr Azam said that additional field staff was being deployed along the Kalash valleys’ roads to keep them open so that the tourists might not face any difficulty.
Meanwhile, the tourists stranded due to the closure of the road left the Chitral town for the Kalash valleys after the road was reopened.
