CHITRAL: While it is not clear how many foreigners are working in Chitral and where they are based, the local police have been showing its preparedness to ensure their security since a terror attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi a few days ago.
Today, the police conducted a mock exercise on over a foot-deep snow at the height of 9,500 feet near Shoghor. It is learnt that foreign nationals are working on extracting mines in this area. Personnel of the police and elite force as well as security staff of the foreigners took part in the mock drill led by Subdivisioanl Police Officer (SDPO) Garam Chashma Abdul Sattar, said the police.
The law enforcers exhibited their preparedness and capacity to save and rescue lives in case of an emergency situation such as a terror attack.
The mock exercise was conducted on the direction of District Police Officer (DPO) Furqan Bilal. The DPO said though Chitral is a peaceful area, chances cannot be taken as far as security of the local citizens as well as foreigners was concerned. –Muhkam Uddin
