DROSH: Unknown people have blown up a govt primary school for boys in Arandu Gol along Pak-Afghan border early this morning which is the first such terror activity to target an educational institution in Chitral.
The incident occurred in the Mir Akbat village at about 4:45am.
The roof of the three-room school, where 80 to 90 students were enrolled, was blown off in the explosion.
Reports said the terror elements had also planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on the road to the school which went off when a police team was heading to the damaged school. However, no one was injured.
It is perhaps the first incident in Chitral where a school has been targeted by terrorists.

District Police Officer (DPO) Furqan Bilal confirmed the attack on the primary school .
Police have started an investigation into the incident. When questioned about the suspected identities of the perpetrators, the DPO said, “At the moment, I am not in a position to comment about the attackers.”
He speculated that terrorists from across the border may have involved in the incident.
Last month, over a dozen schools ─ most of them for girls ─ were burnt down in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district.
