Five sentenced to death in triple murder case

CHITRAL: Five people booked in a triple murder case were sentenced to death on three counts each and fined Rs1 million by a court here.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Khan Yousufzai acquitted seven other people due to lack of incriminating evidence. The convicts, Maqsudul Mulk, Iqbalul Mulk, Jahanzebul Mulk, Mian Gul Jan and Qayyum, had shot dead Muazazul Mulk, Noorul Mulk and Samiul Mulk over a land dispute in Osiak village of Drosh on May 4, 2014.

The case was registered against them under Section 302, 148, 149 and 440 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The 53-page verdict stated that the amount of fine would be equally distributed among the legal heirs of the three victims. In case the convicts failed to pay the amount, the court ruled, they would spend six more months in jail. Iqbalul Mulk, Maqsoodul Mulk and Jehanzeb were also sentenced to five-year imprisonment for keeping illicit weapons.

One of the convicts, Maqsoodul Mulk, who was on bail, was arrested from the courtroom soon after the announcement of the verdict by the court. Those who were acquitted from the charges are Israr, Babarul Mulk, Israil Khan, Ramdad Khn, Imtiaz Jan, GulMuham and and Tahir.
