MERGRAM (YARKHUN): The Aga Khan High School for Girls in Meragram No 2 was on Wednesday formally upgraded to the higher secondary level with the launch of the intermediate classes.
In this regard, a function was held at the school in which retired teacher Mas Khan from Dizg was the chief guest while Yarkhun Union Council (UC) Nazim Rehmat Wali presided over he event.
Aga Khan Education Service (AKES) Chitral General Manager retired Brig Khush Muhammad Khan along with notables of the area was also present on the occasion.
The Meragram school will be the the third institution of the AKES in Chitral to provide education to female students up to the secondary level. This school in the far-off Yarkhun valley now admits students from KG to the intermediate level while the Aga Khan Higher Secondary Schools in Kuragh and Seenlasht offers classes from 8th to the intermediate level.
The AKES has purchased a piece of land in Meragram for the construction of a new building for the higher secondary classes. Teachers for the new classes have also been hired.
Talking to ChitralToday, residents of the area thanked the AKES and its general manager for upgrading the school which will facilitate the female students of Yarkhun to acquire education up to the higher secondary level at their doorsteps.
They also expressed the hope that the AKES would ensure quality education in the school by hiring sufficient number of competent teachers and ensuring other facilities at the institution. –Abdul Nasir Khan
