Oveer boy committed suicide, CPU rules out murder

CHITRAL: While the postmortem report and result of forensic examination are still awaited, the Child Protection Unit (CPU) in a press statement on Thursday claimed that the 15-year-old boy in Oveer in upper Chitral had committed suicide on July 1, and ruled out the possibility of a murder.
Child Protection Officer Imran Uddin said the parents of Imam Sadiqeen had informed the local police that their son had committed suicide and they did not have any suspicion of murder. The police registered the case on July 1 under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), said Mr Imran.
But after making a conclusion, he also said neither the report of the postmortem on the body carried out at the District Headquarters Hospital Chitral nor the result of the samples sent to Lahore for forensic examination had been received.
He then referred to the constitution of an investigation team on the direction of the district police officer (DPO) on July 2 to ascertain the circumstances under which Imam Sadqeen, son of Imam Zakreen, of Pakhturi in Oveer, was murdered.
The investigation team comprised the additional SP Chitral, SDPO Mulkhow and the incharge of district security branch Chitral. The team was directed to submit its findings in five days. –Syed Nazir Hussain Shah
