Baba Fateh honored for promoting Khowar folk music

BOONI: Local government representatives, literary figures and people from different walks of life here on Saturday attended a function arranged in honour of Chitral’s prominent folk singer and artist Baba Fateh Uddin.

The speakers on the occasion praised the senior artist for his services to the Khowar music. They said Baba Fateh had for long been playing a key role in promoting the music of Chitral and is a role model for young artists.

Despite lack of resources and official patronage it is the artists who have worked hard  to highlight  Chitral’s culture in every nook and corner of the country and abroad.

District nazim Maghfirat Shah on the occasion presented a souvenir to Baba Fateh. A musical programme was also held in which other artists also performed. —Javed Khan
