CHITRAL: The emergency service Rescue 1122 was on Friday formally inaugurated in Chitral though recruitment of local youth in the service is yet to be completed.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, PTI MPA Bibi Fouzia said that all the hiring in the emergency service would be done on merit.
She said that during the last a few years Chitral’s infrastructure was badly damaged in floods as well as earthquake and in the backdrop of that natural calamities the KP government decided to launch the 1122 service in the valley to help the people in times of any emergency situation.
She said as the service had no building of its own in Chitral, the tehsil council nazim had accommodated the offices and staff of 1122 on the premises of the TMA till the establishment of a separate premises for the department.
She said due to its particular topography, Chitral needed round-the-clock service of 1122 but for that local youth should be inducted and trained in dealing with emergency situations. It may be noted that local candidates had cleared the fitness test to join the emergency service but the posts were re-advertised and the process of appointments is yet to be completed.
Tesil nazim Chitral Muhammad Ilyas said the new service was faced with problems of staff,offices and equipment and requested the KP government to resolve these issues.

Many candidates from Chitral have cleared physical & written exams and are waiting for the oral tests/interview since one year, the respected MPA should look into this matter and probe reasons behind this delay alongside the efforts for inducting her brother into it.
