Diamond jubilee sports festival heralds arrival of new year

Chapari is one of the many beautiful villages of upper Chitral. It is famous for its natural beauty. Centuries-old traditions and culture in its purest form are still thriving in Chapari.
On the arrival of the New Year 2018, the Aga Khan Youth and Sport Board, local council Chinar, Mastuj, with support of Iqrar Brothers Club Chapari arranged Diamond Jubilee Sports Festival at the Central Jamatkhana Chapari. The communities of Chapari, Kargin and Aliabad Hondur participated in different games including nishanabazi, volleyball, tug of war and traditional hockey. The elders of the three villages participated in the centuries-old event of Sia Khaman shooting.
For the first time, special persons and women participated in the event. In special person category, Mr. Rustam Khan won the running competition.
Mr. Rehmat Murad of Kargin won nishanabazi contest while the elders of the community won against youngsters in wild hockey. Mr & Mrs. Abdul Hakim Khan won in the badminton event.
Both the communities, Sunni and Ismaili, participated and enjoyed the festival, said Secretary Aga Khan Youth and Sport Board local council Chinar Ahmad Muhammad Ali.
The aim of the event was to entertain and encourage the people of the area and to welcome the arrival of new year. The secretary also thanked all the participants for making the event successful. Mr. Hakim Akber Ali Khan, Headmaster Abdul Hakim Khan, ex Mukhi Syed Hakim Shah, Mir Azam Khan and Nazim Village Council Khuzh Noor Ajam Noorani distributed trophies among the winners.
