New Year's message for youth of Chitral
By Sahib Karim Khan Let’s keep it precise this year and dedicate it to developing our competence. Your New Year resolutions should include these three critically important elements: 1: Developing Competence: Let’s strive to be more competent in 2018 than we were in 2017. Try to learn and improve every single day. Our aim should be to become the leaders and not followers of knowledge society of future! Strategy: We can start reading 1-10 pages of our industry relevant material each day, be it a book, blog, Vlog etc. Make learning a conscious decision and prepare yourselves for future. Asking yourself one critical question might help: “What kind of skill set would be needed to survive in my industry 10-20yrs from now?” 2: Developing Humility: Let’s devote 2018 to understanding and practicing humility, every single day. Let’s not just be humble in our acts, but also in our thoughts. Let’s learn and practice intellectual and spiritual humility in 2018. Strategy: Start asking for feedback from loved ones, on personal as well as professional development areas. Be ready to learn and accept your mistakes. Start developing guts to accept that you don’t know everything ( as Khalil Jibran has rightly said: “I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, that I know nothing.” 3: Developing Gratitude Synapses: Being grateful also requires competence –the knowledge of seeing the positive in every situation. So let’s develop gratitude synapses, making ourselves happier, humbler and more blessed! Strategy: Start practicing your faith, not as a compulsion but as a source to bring you nearer to your Creator. Give love a chance and start accepting differences. I would recommend the following books: “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Dr Joseph Murphy and one of my all-time favorites “The Forty Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak.]]>
