Chitral to lose one of its two provincial assembly seats

CHITRAL: Under the census 2017, Chitral will lose one of its two provincial assembly seats.
Under the new criterion, the seats among the 25 existing districts in the province will be distributed on the basis of 308,316 people per seat. Under the 2017 census, the population of Chitral has been shown at 447,362.
Under the readjustment, Chitral will have only one seat in the 99-member provincial assembly. Other districts which will lose seats are: Abbottabad (one minus five) Charsadda (one minus six), Haripur (four minus one), Swabi (one minus six).
The districts which will have more seats are: Lower Dir (four plus one), Peshawar (11 plus three) and Swat (seven plus one).
There will be no changes in the number of seats of other districts.

    Unfair decision to push Chitral in to stone age. we are already in trouble,Federal and provincial governments despite minimize our difficulties don’t make our lives miserable. we strongly condemn the cruel joke with the people of Chitral. All parties leadership of Chitral, lawyers, Journalists, writers, intellectuals, Trade Unions and Students associations must raise voice against this unfair and unjust decision to deprive Chitral from one provincial assembly seat.
