Civil society, govt officials join hands to clean Shandur after annual festival

The move was highly appreciated by government officials and the general public. Around 40 volunteers took part in the campaign and collected nearly four tons of solid waste. The solid wastes accumulated were properly disposed of by digging pit-holes and covering by soil with the help of tractors. AKRSP under its project Water and Energy Security carried out the activity in collaboration with the tehsil municipal administration Mastuj and the Chitral Heritage and Environmental Protection Society. Additional deputy commissioner Chitral Mr. Minhas Uddin and Assistant commissioner Mastuj Mr. Hayat Shah also joined the campaign and appreciated the activity. Mr. Minhas urged the tourists and spectators to keep Shandur clean and green. He also joined the awareness walk with the theme of clean eco system. Assistant Commissioner Mr Hayat Shah suggested installing dustbins for the next Shandur festival. A cultural night was organized by Tourism Corporation of Pakistan.
