District nazim 'forced' to withdraw order imposing ban on festivals

ChitralToday on Tuesday night. Sources within the local administration told ChitralToday that the nazim had to face the wrath of the authorities concerned for the ban said to be imposed by him in solidarity with 22 people sent to the in DI Khan jail for attacking the Chitral police lines in the wake of the Shahi Masjid incident on April 21. The nazim had imposed the ban on the holding of any festival in the territorial jurisdiction of Chitral for two weeks, which was also rejected by the polo association as well as the local administration. According to sources privy to the development, the Jamaat-e-Islami district nazim had taken the plea that no festival would take place till the release of 22 people from the jail. Contrary to his previous one page detailed order, in a one liner notification issued on Wednesday the nazim stated: “After detail (sic] meeting with high ups and assurance for support and maintenance of law and order situation in the district this office order issued vide No 50144/PSO/DN/DG/CTL, dated 9/5/2017 is herby withdrawn with immediate effect.” The district polo association earlier in the day vowed to start the festival on Thursday. Talking to ChitralToday on phone, president Chitral polo association Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk said all the polo teams and the polo fans from all over Chitral will assemble at Chew Bridge and march towards Chitral polo ground to register their protest against the district nazim. “This is a polo match and it must not be linked with any community; a particular incident or the likes and dislikes of a political party. This should be clear to anyone opposing this tournament that we will not the elements bent upon imposing their sweet will on others,” he warned. He continued that after reaching the polo ground, the toss will be held at 3pm, adding we would like to make sure that will one will be allowed to impose their decision on the people of Chitral under one pretext or another. “Polo is the game of our forefathers; it’s our tradition; part of our culture and we will not allow anybody to impose their decision on the people of Chitral. Our forefathers kept the game alive and we’ve been playing polo for several years and now we’ll hand it over to our children,” he declared.]]>

    Nazim Sab is trying to make peaceful Chitral Bajaur agency,and Waziristan. Now people of Chitral have realized how Price Mohayudin was important for Chitral. These so called religious parties will destroy the environment of Chitral. Even they don’t have a proper knowledge of our holy religion. Request to all educated people of Chitral to think about our Chitral. The nazim is trying to de motivate people and prepare for the federal and provincial election.

    سکندرالملک نے صحیح وقت پر درست قدم اٹھایا ہے۔پولو کے کھلاڑی بھی پیعمبر اسلام ﷺسےاتنی ہی محبت کرتے ہیں جتنی معفرت شاہ صاحب کرتےہیں۔ پولوہماری وہ ثقافتی ورثہ ہے جس کی وجہ سے چترال کو پوری دنیا میں جانا جاتا ہے۔ اور اس سے کسی کے ایمان پہ کوئی منفی اثر بھی نہیں پڑتا۔ چترالی قوم کبھی بھی اپنی اس پہچان سے دست بردار نہین ہوگی۔ معفرت
    شاہ صاحب کوشش کرکے دیکھ لیں۔ ضلعی حکومت کے سربراہ کی حیثیت سے معفرت شاہ صاحب حضور پاک کے صفائی نصف ایمان والے فرمان پر بھی عمل کرنے کی طرف توجہ دیں تو کیا بات ہوگی۔

    it startles me that the District Nazim Claims to be the the Head of Local Government and at the same time is delaying the Polo Tournament in support of those who have been booked under 7ATA. Section 7 of Anti Terrorism Act deals with those who are involved in terrorism,and the minimum penalty under this section is Ten year imprisonment. As this Act states in sub section (d) Where as Grievous damage to property is caused, shall be punishable on conviction, with imprisonment, of either description for a term not less than ten years but may extend to imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to heavy fine;
    It again does not suit our Nazim to support anyone booked under the law as he is the head of the district government. The government should also take notice of the executive order issued by the District Nazim regarding this matter.

    Hournarable District Nazim is miscalculating the situation.He is considering 2017 as 1987 though there is a difference of decades.He has to understand the change in policy of Pakistani establishment and whole world. He should understand why a cricket match in Lahore was organised despite so much threat.He has to present Chitral in international forum where no one will support intolerance in any form.Recently he has come in contact with many European Ambassadors as elected representative of Chitral to persuade them for reconstruction of infra structure in Chitral.If he supported so openly a particular mind set then the donars will not take him serious.It will go against the interest of whole Chitral. Some experienced and knowledgeable people from Jamat Islami should guide him in this regards.He should behave as a representative of whole Chitral rather head of a pressure group.Our prayers are with him.
