Muhammad Kausar[/caption] Law enforcement agencies rounded up about 150 people after a mob attacked the Chitral police station and tried to seize a man who was handed over to the police by the khateeb of a mosque after passing blasphemous remarks. The car of the khateeb of the mosque was also burnt down by the angry mob for saving him from being beaten up. The incident created tension and panic in the area forcing the local administration to call out the army. However, PML-N’s tehsil president Muhammad Kausar Advocate in a press statement said the arrested people who were protesting for the love of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) should be released. He said it was natural that the sentiment of the believers was hurt by the blasphemous remarks forcing them to take to the streets but the way the protesters were followed and caught and handcuffed would have created a law and order situation. It can also make the people think that by not taking the law into their hands they had committed a mistake, he added. Mr Kausar also appealed to the provincial president of the PML-N and prime minister’s adviser Amir Muqam to intervene and help in the release of the ‘innocent’ people.–Bashir Hussain Azad]]>
