Passengers stranded on Lowari Pass after snowfall
File photo.[/caption] The valley of Chiral received rain and snowfall, making the wetaher more chilly and creating a shortage of firewood. Reports said due to the snowfall, the passengers on the Lowari Pass could not continue their journey and assembled on both sides of he Lowari tunnel in Chitral and Dir sides expecting its opening. The passenger vehicles got stranded on the pass and over 100 vehicles were waiting on the north and south portals of the tunnel as night fell without any signal from the NHA to open the passageway. The government has announced that after the closure of the Lowari Pass due to snowfall, the under-construction tunnel would be opened once in a week, on every Friday. But the residents of Chitral have already rejected the schedule and asked the government to open the tunnel at least twice a week The passengers demanded that the tunnel should be opened to facilitate them to reach their destinations as the pass had closed stranding them on the mountainous road. ]]>
