Environment activists clean Karachi beach

The Youth Wing Karachi conducted a beach cleaning activity on Saturday in coordination with YES alumni Pakistan. The Youth Coordinator of CHEPS, Abdul Wahid Khan, said: “The idea of the activity was to get out to the beach and give a message of clean environment to the people. We have stopped caring about the environment and the Karachi public beach has turned into a garbage area. We got to interact with a lot of people, and people were forced to think when they saw us cleaning the beach”. The world has entered the Anthropocene period where humans are devastating the nature and environment and such steps from youth is no less than a ray of hope for everyone to witness. Chitral Heritage and Environmental Protection Society (CHEPS) Youth Wing is not only for youth from Chitral but many youth from Karachi and other cities have also become a part of CHEPS Youth Wing (CYW). The chairman of CHEPS, Mr. Rehmat Ali, talked to the participants of beach cleaning activity on phone and appreciated their efforts for the cause of environmental care. Mr. Rehmat Ali also thanked Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) Alumni Network for the support and collaboration. This is a start of such environmental activities that the youth members of CHEPS will carry out throughout the country including Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad, etc in order to achieve the goal of clean and green Pakistan.]]>
