Lawmakers, NHA officials visit Yarkhun
BANG: Three MNAs, including Usman Khan Tarakai and Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin, who are members of the National Assembly standing committee on communication visited the Yarkhun valley on Wednesday. They were accompanied by the secretary communication and officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA). The delegation had an aerial overview of the valley up to Boroghil. After landing in Povur village in an AKDN helicopter, they told a public gathering that they had come to the area to look at the condition of roads. AKDN chief executive officer Akhtar Iqbal also accompanied the visitors. In their welcome address, the local people requested the lawmakers to raise the issues of the area in parliament. They also said the Tajikistan road should be built through the Boroghil pass which was the most shortest and safe corridor to link Pakistan with the Central Asian states. The lawmakers assured the gathering that they would take up the matter with the authorities concerned. It was learnt that some of the members of the standing committee had stayed in Mastuj. They are currently on a four-day visit of Chitral.–Abdul Naser Khan ]]>
AKDN helicopter has always been misused. Is it justified that a group of MNAs visiting Chitral should be given such protocol at the cost of donors money. There are reports that the AKDN heli made several sorties carrying the MNAs to different parts of Chitral for nothing. Their visit would make no difference for Chitral. The people of Chitrali should know that the standing committee can only make recommendation and the government is not bound to comply with it.
So this is beyond comprehension why the high ups of AKDN especially its CEO belonging to Chitral are silent when the helicopter is being misused. Can the media also dig out a real story behind the misuse of AKDN chopper??
Good news well don iftikhar
