Flood alert issued for Chitral

In a communique sent to the deputy commissioner of Chitral, the PDMA warned that glacial lake outburst floods may hit the valleys of Bindu Gol and Golen and nearby areas from July 14 onward. The DC was asked to take necessary measures and also intimate the local communities about the threat alert. It may be noted that flash floods created lots of destruction in Bindu Gol last year. The PDMA had earlier said it had intimated the district administration about the flash floods in the Ursun valley on June 30. Over 30 people were killed when the floods washed away a number of houses and a mosque in Ursun on July 3 this year.]]>
