Rescue, relief operation underway in flood-ravaged valley. The government is committed to help the people of Chitral who are facing yet another natural disaster, said the deputy commissioner of Chitral.
“We’ve distributed compensation worth 3 lac each among heirs of the deceased, tents for families with damaged houses, food for 250 families, pipes for restoration of water supply and Irrigation channels, water filters and blankets.”
Heads of the district departments including C&W, irrigation and health also visited the area with the DC. The C&W department has started rehabilitation work on the damaged track and irrigation department is working to remove the debris from the junction of Ursun Gol and Chitral river.
Compensation for house damages and also the cost for bringing back bodies from Afghanistan is also being paid by the District Administration. “We are thankful to all those who are helping us in this hour including KP government, Punjab government, NDMA and different NGOs” he added.
