Booni without power for 10 months, govt still silent spectator
They said the Reshun powerhouse was destroyed by floods in July 2015 and since then the whole area of upper Chitral is without power but the authorities concerned failed to take even a single step to reconstruct the powerhouse or make alternative arrangements for the supply of electricity to the area. The meeting held at the office of Hakim Ali Advocate was chaired by retired Subedar Daboor Lal. Besides elders of the area, the meeting was also attended by nazims of village council Booni 1 and Booni 2. The meeting also expressed their deep sense of anguish and anger over the government’s apathy even to make functional the three diesel generators sent by the Sindh government on the request of PPP leader and leader of the house in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah four months ago. On the other hand, on the pretext of the supply of the generators, the government as well as political leaders and local lawmakers are doing politics and have kept the people of Booni deprived of the solar panels being distributed in the area. They also expressed their disappointment over the helplessness of MPA Sardar Hussain to get the electricity issue resolved or even make the generators sent by his own party leaders functional. They warned that if the provincial government did not stop doing politics over the power issue and make the generators functional within three weeks, the people of the area would be left with no other option but to launch a protest movement that would be embarrassing for the rulers. ]]>
A very good news for the peoples of Booni that the three diesel generators supplied by Government of Sindh on the request of PPP leader and leader of the house in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, are now up-running since August 5, 2016 & start providing electricity to the local community of Booni. This was only happened because of the efforts of the elders of Booni, MPA Sardar Hussain, AC Booni Hameedullah Khattak, DG PDMA Syed Suleman Shah & public representatives of Booni. It is hope that the management will continue this progress & will do every effort to provide continuous electricity to the locality. This will be a big re-leaf for the people of Booni.
