30 jeeps take part in Lowari Top rally

DIR: The Frontier Corps North arranged a one-day annual peace jeep and bike rally.

Major General Nadir Khan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Malakand Division, was chief guest at the event which was attended by DIG Malakand Division Azad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Dir Zakaullah Khattak, MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, District Nazim Dir Sahibzada Fasihullah, civil and military officers as well as a large number of locals, especially youth and tourists.

The jeep rally covered a distance of 20.9 km around the area and passed through the Lawari tunnel and came back on the old mountainous road to the ground close to the tunnel in Dir side. In the rally, 30 vehicles from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated.

Yasir Khan of Frontier 4/4 Club won the rally, Shah Nawaz Khan of the Frontier Club grabbed the second position while a local Rahatullah Khan remained third.

Speaking on the occasion, GOC Nadir Khan said such programmes would promote peace and tourism in the region. He said the Lawari Top area was a picturesque spot which needed proper attention of the government.

 “The snow jeep rally aimed to promote this snow covered area besides providing an opportunity of entertainment to the people.” He also said this snow festival will be held every year in the area. Gen Nadir also said the ongoing military operation “Zarb-i-Azab” in tribal region is at an ending position with success in which the personnel of security forces rendered huge sacrifices.  He asked the people to continue cooperation with the security forces.  

A tourist, Amjad Khan, expressing his joy. said it was a pleasant occasion which will to promote peace and soft image of the region. He said that these events draw and motivate locals as well other tourists to visit this mountains area. Another, Mohood Khan, thanked the KP government, the army and local administrations for arranging the rally.
