<![CDATA[CHITRAL: On public complaints regarding inconvenience caused to passengers travelling from Peshawar to Chitral due to passenger coaches leaving Peshawar in evening and arriving at the Lowari tunnel around 2am, Deputy Commissioner Chitral Osama Ahmad Waraich has bound the transporters to follow certain timings. The arrangement was made by the DC Chitral in coordination with his counterpart in Peshawar, said the DC office Chitral on Thursday. Under the instructions, the public transporters would not travel during the night. They would leave Peshawar early in the morning and reach the Lowari tunnel in Dir side at around its opening time. The DC asked the citizens to report any violation of this order to the concerned assistant commissioner. It may be noted that the under-construction tunnel opens on Tuesday and Friday every week in the winter. ]]>

A good step by the administration. Even more important is to ensure that the tunnel opens in time regardless of the ‘urgency’ of work going on inside. (if at all there were urgency it would have been completed 6 years ago).
