dizg The second protest gathering was held in Dizg and also attended by people from Khruzg and Mahting. Speaking on the occasion, the residents said on Jan 15, a protest sit-in was held in Dizg against government departments and private sector organizations for ignoring the area in the rehabilitation and relief activities. A few weeks later, the commandant of Chitral Scouts, Col Nizam Uddin Shah, took notice and visited Dizg and expressed solidarity with the residents. He also distributed relief goods among the affectees of the area. The people are thankful to the commandant Chitral Scouts and the army for the quick response. However, it is a matter of disappointment that the elected representatives, including MPA Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin, MPA Sardar Hussain, and councillors neither visited the area after the natural calamities nor took notice of the protest gathering. Due to the failure of the elected representatives, people are now looking towards the military for help, they added. Syed Zahir Shah, a resident of Dizg, said MPA Sardar Hussain had made may promises before the elections but after wining the polls never came to the village. He said we had voted for Sardar Hussain in the hope that he would work for the betterment of the village but now the commandant of Chitral Scouts came to help the people but the elected representatives have not been seen. Taj Uddin, another resident, said mobile service providing company Telenor installed its tower in Khotan Lasht, the pasture of the public, without consulting the area people. He said if Telenor did not pay compensation to the villagers, the locals would ask the company to remove the tower from the area. ]]>
