Six water supply schemes restored in Mulkhow UC

Booni: Six water supply schemes restored in Mulkhow UC YSDO had carried out a comprehensive need assessment of UC Mulkoh soon after the July 2015 devastating flash flood.

The UC was one of the worst hit areas in the whole district. YSDO head met with the community representatives including newly-elected local government councilors, social workers and religious leaders of the area during the assessment stage to get their feedback and support. The rehabilitated six schemes are Shonu, Samagole, Mashamut, Gahchetur, Sakht Kishnandur and Gaht Payeen.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by a large number of local community, district public representatives and district administration personnel. District Naib Nazim Maulana Abdul Shakoor was the chief guest.

Among others were Tehsil Nazim Maulana Muhammad Yusuf, additional assistant commissioner Booni Mr. Salah and former assistant commissioner Mastuj Minhasuddin. The speakers appreciated the works of YSDO for selecting the hit villages for its interventions and timely completion of the schemes.

Maulana Abdul Shakoor thanked YSDO for providing aplatform of getting together both community and public representatives for the first time in the area. He hoped that other NGOs working in the area will follow suit such precedents where different stakeholders will be given the opportunity of listenining to people problems and making strategy for their solutions with the involvement of the community.

Additional Assistant Commissioner Mastuj said the government will always support such private institutions who are working to solve the basic issues of the community with transparency and accountability and YSDO is one of them. He said that government will always support the initiatives of such organizations who believe in serving the people without discrimination and respecting the rules of the state.

Maulana Muhammad Yusuf, tehsil nazim, said that organizing this event by YSDO indicates that the organization has the elements of openness, transparency and commitment and appreciated the services YSDO chairman working for good causes.

The participants, especially community of the area, thanked Concern World Wide and USAID for their timely interventions in the post flood situation in the UC and expected that donors will not leave the UC without solving their issues, caused by the devastating flood and earthquake of the year. They highly appreciated the working patterns of both the donors and the implementing partner.

    Weldone YSDO. The credit of success of the projects directly goes to YSDO. The most important is team work and mobilization of community and both the qualities are present in YSDO. We expect such more projects from YSDO.
