Hundreds stranded after landsliding

mastuj On November 4, landsliding incident near Mroi disrupted land connection to Chitral headquarters. Travelers are stranded on the road since last night. However, the local administration has not taken any step to resolve the matter. Earlier on October 30, a notification was issued by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) according to which rain and snowfall was expected from November 1 to 4 in Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Malakand and Hazara Division. The national department also warned of land sliding in the mountainous regions. NDMA further stated that another spell of rain and snowfall is also expected from November 7 to 10 in the same areas. The temperature will drop affecting relief activities through helicopter. NDMA had directed all the institutions to expedite their relief efforts in its notification. On October 26, a massive 8.1 magnitude quake had hit the several parts of the country. More than 200 lives were lost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) alone.–Dunya News]]>
