The relief items included blankets, tents, mats and food items. He said the relief goods were being distributed among the affected people in accordance with the lists provided to the local administration by the village council nazims and tehsil council members.
However, some people here complained that a number of elected representatives and government officials had included the names of their relatives, friends and other non-deserving people in the lists ignoring those who needed the items the most.
As such complaints continued increasing, the people of upper Chitral demanded that a fresh survey of the affected people should be carried out by the Pakistan Army so that the deserving people were not denied their right to the relief goods.
Meanwhile, relief goods sent by the chief minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, also reached Chitral. In a statement, Shahbaz Sharif advised the KP government to expedite the relief activities and reach out to the affected people in remote areas which still remained without any help.
