A tower without service

CHITRAL, Aug 23: It is more than two months since mobile phone service provider Warid completed work on the installation of its tower at Zezdi Madak in Mulkhow.

However, so far there is no progress on the launching of the Warid mobile phone service in the area. The people of the area, especially those who live out of Chitral, have been waiting for the start of the mobile service in the area.
It may be noted here that other mobile service providers, including Telenor, also started work on the launching of their services in upper Chitral but abandoned the work midway. Telenor had installed its towers in the Yarkhun valley about three years ago but so far it has not launched its service in the valley.
Poeple of these areas ahve for long been asking their elected representatives to get the service initiated on a priority basis as there were no other sources of communication for the residents of teh far-off villages.–Shafi Ullah
