Balim in Laspur valley also hit by floods
CHITRAL, July 25: The Balim village of Laspur valley was also hit by massive floods on Friday.
The residents said the village was hit by floods in three streams that destroyed standing crops, trees, forest and houses. Besides, a Jamat Khana and the electricity supply system of the village were also damaged. A bridge on the Laspur river which connects to the Balim village has been partially damaged and is dangerous for use by vehicles, so the village remains cut-off.
As many as 20 houses and the irrigation water supply network were also damaged in the village. The residents said a number of cattle were swept away. Some residents said there was a sudden heavy rainfall followed by a lightning on a hillock overlooking the village that caused the flood.
So far there is no assistance from any government or private organizations in the affected villages of the Laspur valley.
As many as three houses were partially damaged when flood in the Phargram Gol hit the Raman village. In upper Gasht village, floodwater also entered agricultural land and houses.
