Mother language day observed in Chitral
CHITRAL, Feb 22: Representatives of various linguistic groups of Chitral gathered at Chitral Press Club to celebrate the International Mother’s Language Day on February 21.
The programme was organized by literary organization, Anjuman Taraqi Khowar Chitral. Those who spoke on the occasion were Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, Gul Murad Khan Hasrat, Maula Nigah, Prof. Mumtaz Hussain, Hayatullah (Dameli), Gul Hamad Faruqi (Pashto), Allaudin Haidari (Yadgha) and Khalid Firaq Andalib (Gojri).
The following resolutions moved by Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, were passed unanimously: 1. The bill passed by the National Assembly, declaring fourteen languages as National Language, may be passed by the Senate without further delay. 2. Regional Languages Authority of KPK may be established, as provided in the legislation made by the KP Assembly. 3. Funds allocated for the development of languages may be spent on all languages in an equitable manner. 4. Journals in regional languages may be published by the Government, as it was done in the past.
