CHITRAL, Feb 22: Chitral’s charming and popular artist Noor Afzal, popularly know as Afzal Miki, has died at the age of 86.

He leaves behind two sons and a large number of relatives and fans to mourn his death. The deceased was laid to rest at his ancestral village of Jughoor amid a large number of people from all walks of life on Sunday afternoon.
Eminent writer and researcher of Chitral, Dr Inayatullah Faizi, told ChitralToday that Afzal Miki had tremendous contribution to the Khowar language and culture. He said Afzal Miki was the first artist who sang a Khowar song in All-India Radio along with Ghulam Nabi of Miragram No 1 before Pakistan came into being. He never lost his vigor in singing old Khowar song along with playing the Sitar.
