Mulkhow residents to observe shutter down strike
BOONI, Jan 29: A delegation of Tehreek Huqooq-e-Awam, upper Chitral, visited the hunger strike camp set up at Warijun by the people of Mulkhow against unavailability of basic facilities at the rural health centre (RHC) there.
The people of Mulkhow have been holding a symbolic hunger strike for the last over a month. The delegation headed by the chief of the Tehreek, Sarfaraz Ali Khan, assured the hunger strikers all-out support. The hunger strikers said that from Jan 30, a shutter-down strike would be held for an indefinite period by the people of Mulkhow. They said that the strike would continue till the government provided all the basic facilities at the RHC.
They said that they would never believe the assistant commissioner Mastuj at Booni and the district health officers because for the last two months these two officers have been making false promises. It may be noted that the AC recently had said that all the equipment needed for the RHC had been handed over to the health department in Peshawar and would arrive in Chitral on Sunday, January 25.
Drug peddling has become a crucial issue especially for the youth of Chitral.I hope the newly deputed DPO ,himself belonging to young generation, will stimulate all his energies for the eradication of this curse without any political pressure etc.Best of luck in your firm determination and God bless you
