Primary students force EDO to post teacher to their school

CHITRAL, Oct 17: Scores of female students from the Orghoch village staged a sit-in outside the district education office against the absence of their only teacher since the summer vacation. studentsThe little students reached the education office after walking from their village at a distance of about six kilometers and refused to go back until their demand to post a teacher to the school was fulfilled. The students said Ms Musharrafa Bibi of the Jughor village was transferred from her native village to the govt primary school in Orghoch during the large-scale reshuffles carried out by the education department in July this year. But the teacher did not take charge of her new assignment and continued trying to get the transfer orders cancelled. As a result, the students had to face hardship in continuing their education. In the meantime, the education department remained unmoved to resolve the issue. Demands by the parents of the students for the posting of a teacher to the school also fell on deaf ears. As a last resort, the students launched the protest and forced the EDO to arrange another teacher for the school. When contacted, EDO (female) Zohra Jalal said the teacher had not taken charge of the school after her transfer to Orgoch three months ago. She said a show-cause notice had been issued to the teacher in this regard. She said after the protest by the students and repeated demands by the area people, teacher  Musharrafa had now been transferred to Arandu while another teacher, Maqsudun Nisa, posted at the Orghoch school.–Nazir Hussain]]>
