Children in Chitral facing rights abuses, domestic violence

The unit said it was working on resolving the issues besides providing legal and financial assistance to the affected children, says a press release issued by the CPU. The coordination meeting was held with deputy commissioner Chitral Ameenul Haq and attended by government officials and the representatives of the CPU. Child protection officer Muhammad Aftab briefed the meeting about the activities of the organization in regard to highlighting and resolving the issues of children. He said the CPU also provided financial assistance to poor children, especially students in meeting their expenses of education. He also said that some children facing mental problems were also provided counseling at different sessions held by experts. At the end of the meeting, the district Khateeb proposed that at least two religious experts should be nominated with the task of scrutinizing the age of girls before their marriages, especially with outsiders. He also informed the meeting about the issues being faced by primary schools.
