Youth assembly members apprise MPAs of students’ issues
PESHAWAR, Sept 16: A delegation of National Youth Assembly members met MPAs Saleem Khan and Sardar Hussain at the MPA hostel and apprised them of their issues.
Talking to the students, the MPAs said our first priority is education sector in Chitral. We have served the education including upgrading the numbers of schools and provided new building for children and also made girls degree college Drosh during the PPP government.
They also said 100 million rupees were released for 200 chakoorum land for Chitral University. Saleem Khan said he never recommended anyone in education department for transfer. “I always said that the transfer in education department should be in need base and should be free from political interference.”
The MPA said he had also provided 40 million rupees for a generator at SBBU university campus to facilitate the students. The MPAs asked the students point out their problems so that they can try to resolve them. The youth members said they wanted to highlight the issues of students by using the platform of the National Youth Assembly and the elected members of the provincial assembly.
“We think that all the suggestions will be constructive for the betterment of beautiful land of Chitral.” The valley of Chitral is the area-wise largest districts in the province. “Our suggestions are on the light of fundamental rights of a citizen according to 1973 constitution.” Education: There are many more problems in education but some important and basics are below.
Transfers
The district has one of the highest literacy rate that is 70% in the KP. Our fundamental emphasis is that every government employee must stay in government departments at least for one year because once a teacher is hired in a school in the same or the very next day he is transferred to another place due to political and non-political interference. Instead of teaching the teacher concerned utilizes all their energy to get himself posted to the area of his choice.
Education of children
Besides this, the other problems are insufficient teachers, furniture and shelters. Board: First we are thankful to chairman BISE Peshawar that he has opened a sub-campus of board but we need a fully-fledged board which is also the right of Chitral. Different districts have their own board such as DI Khan, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Bannu, Kohat, Swat and Malakand. Most of the institutes in Chitral are affiliated with BISEP (Board of intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar).
Approximately, 25000 students are registered for board examinations (Matric+Fsc) every year from Chitral. Therefore, Chitral deserve a board of its own. University: Campuses of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan have been established in Chitral to facilitate the students but they are not of fully fledged and there are 36 colleges are affiliated with Shamed Benazir Bhutto University Dir.
The number of registered students with the university from Chitral is 7500 while from Dir the number is 2500 so we people of Chitral deserve the university. Another idea is that if the two campuses are merged and made one university named “Chitral University” most of the issues of the area students especially females would be resolved.
Health
There are also large numbers of problem but few are important as below. It is said that “Health is wealth” The basic facilities of Health in Chitral specially in Drosh is not sufficient but the people of Drosh urgently need ambulance, the present ambulance in THQ Drosh hospital was given in 1999, the parts are also not available in the market now the ambulance is unable to go DHQ Hospital in case of emergency.
So we need ambulance in a high priority. Another main thing is lack of Emergency cure (drugs) which is an urgent requisite in different parts of Chitral hospitals.–Abbas Hussain
