Position holders honoured

RESHUN (CHITRAL), June 25:  The Young Club Reshun (YCR) held a talent award ceremony for the position holding students of the area. SONY DSCThe ceremony held at a local college was presided over by Muhammad Abbas, former president UBL, while Additional Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Muhammad Salih was chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Shahzad Ahmad Shahzad, the president of the YCR, said: “YCR is a non-political, non-profit organization and is working on humanitarian grounds without any support from the government or private organizations.” He said volunteers of YCR also played a vital role at times of disasters and natural calamities by rehabilitating and rescuing the affected people. The YCR has been organizing the talent award to encourage the position holding students. SONY DSCIhsanur Rehman, a PhD student, said 95% youth in the area were involved in drug addiction, in one form or the other. The other speakers lamented the poor performance of the government schools saying their results always remained below average. They said teachers in government schools were drawing handsome salaries and enjoyed other perks but due to the lack of honesty and dedication their students could not perform well. On the other hand, private schoolteachers were paid very meager salaries but due to the check and balance and good monitoring system, their students obtained excellence positions in different exams. In the end, the chief guest hand ed over the best student talent award to Sadia Farhan, class 9th, of Islamia Model School, who secured 474 marks out of 550 marks in her exam. Dilroz Bano, class 10th, of  Samarqand Public School and College, who obtained 896 marks out of 1100 was given the second talent award. Itw as also announced that Sardar Zaman memorial trophy award would also be given to position holders every year.  Zaman, a senior educationist and principal of Govt. High School Reshun, died in a road accident. The speakers hailed the efforts of YCR for encouraging the talented students. They said the government girls high school in the town was damaged by floods in 2010 but students were adjusted in a primary school building. They said there was no science laboratory, no library and playground and examination hall in the only high school. Those who spoke on the occasion included M. Tahir Khan, Ijaz Ahmad Haqqani,  Fazli Karim, Akbar Hussain,  Ihsanur Rehman and Molvi Muhammad Iqbal.]]>

    The is really commendable. Well done YCR on holding such an important event. I think the students and youth of Reshun have great potential to excel, provided they are properly guided. These activities are positive contributions in this regard and will encourage students. We,all have to play our role in refraining our children from bad company and in teaching them positive thinking. All the best.
