Screening of chicken from other districts sought

CHITRAL, April 22: The district zoonosis committee (ZCC) at its monthly meeting recommended effective steps to check the sale of spurious chicken in the market which rendered the consumers highly vulnerable to the zoonotic diseases.

Headed by the district health officer, Dr Israrullah, the meeting recommended that screening of the chicken brought to Chitral by traders from down-districts should be conducted at Ashriat.

The meeting suggested to the municipal administration to specify a certain place for the establishment of chicken market where proper management of hygienic could be ensured. Held under the auspices of Relief International (RI), the forum consists of the government departments of health, livestock, education, wildlife, district and municipal administration and the representatives of civil society.

The meeting expressed apprehensions over the disposing of the carcasses of poisoned dogs in the open field in Kagh Lasht by the workers of municipal committee Booni which caused death of wildlife, including a rare species of bearded vulture.
