BISE orders Langland's college to give fee concession to siblings or face action

CHITRAL, March 21: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has directed the principal of G.D. Langland’s Public School and College to give fee concession to real brothers and sisters studying in the institution failing which the school registration and affiliation will be cancelled. bise In a letter addressed to the principal, the assistant secretary of BISE Peshawar said that as directed by the Peshawar High Court, all the private sector schools and colleges were bound to give 50 per cent fee concession to the sibling students. The official cited the complaint against the college filed by former tehsil nazim Chitral Sartaj Ahmed Khan on behalf of the parents as its management stubbornly defied the orders of the court. A number of parents of the students studying in the institution hailed the step taken by the board and stressed its implementation in full so that they may be relieved of the heavy fee of the school. Fazal, Musa Khan, Bulbulan Khan and others said the school management had recently increased the tuition fee and transport charges by almost 100 percent which was also in utter violation of the rules and it made many parents to withdraw their children from the school. They said the school was established by the district administration in 1990s to provide quality education to the poor in Chitral and it received grants from the government. They contended that despite receiving grants from the government, it was quite unfair on the part of the school management to increase the fee on one hand and deny the siblings concession on the other.–Zahiruddin]]>
