Rs150 million released for Chitral’s flood-affected areas

CHITRAL, March 19: The provincial government has released an amount of Rs150 million for the reconstruction of the infrastructures damaged by floods last year.

It may be noted that based on a survey carried out in all the flood-affected areas of Chitral, the chief minister of KP had announced Rs300 million for the reconstruction work. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district president Abdul Lateef here on Wedneday said that half of the promised amount have now been released to the provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) and the irrigation department.

The reconstruction work in the affected areas would be started very soon. He said out of the amount, 1.6 million rupees would be spent on the reconstruction of the flood protection walls in front of the Ayun village, Rs4 million for the reconstruction of damaged roads in the Kalash valley of Bumburate.

Besides, he added, Rs7 million for Booni Gol, Rs40 million for the flood-affected village of Reshun, Rs8 million for Junali Koch, Rs6 million Biori near Drosh, Rs9 million for Jughore, Rs5 million for Ashiret, Rs2 million for Arandu. He also said that the chief minister was working to end the deprivation of the people of Chitral and for this purpose the provincial government also planned to exploit the potentials of Chitral in the hydropower sector.–Nazir Hussain
