DROSH, Jan 31: During a visit to the Shishi powerhouse near Drosh, which is being upgraded on the direction of the provincial government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chitral leader Haji Sultan Muhammad realized how difficult and tricky it was to deal with corrupt officials and the contractor mafia.
On the protests of the residents of the Drosh town the small powerhouse is being upgraded to resolve the power crisis in the area. At the start of the upgradation work two months back, the contractor was directed to get the work ready by the end of March.
On Friday, Haji Sultan Muhammad along with Haji Gul Nawaz, Engineer Behram Saeed and others visited the powerhouse to inspect the progress on work. However, he was disappointed that the work had progressed at a snail’s pace.
Expressing his astonishment, he said that the contractor had no magic – to complete the work within the stipulated deadline of March-end. He said the PTI had come to power in the province due to its promises to eliminate corruption and would not tolerate such tactics of the corrupt mafia to sabotage the government’s plans to facilitate the citizens by completing such projects on time.
He also asked the government to take action against the contractor. He warned that if the work was not completed on time the contractor would be held responsible.
