Saleem Khan empowered to utilize Chitral's development funds
PESHAWAR, Jan 16: Member of the KPK Assembly from lower Chitral (PK-90) Saleem Khan has finally been appointed the chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee Chitral.
A notification in this regard was on Thursday issued from the chief minister secretariat. It may be noted that MPA Ghulam Muhammad of the APML from upper Chitral remained the chairman of the DDAC. However, after his suspension by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the recommendation of the election tribunal the post fell vacant. As a result, not a single penny from the Rs50 million development funds could be utilized in Chitral. It may be noted that no amount can be released or utilized from the development funds without the approval of the DDAC chairman. In order to get the amount released and spent on development activities in Chitral before the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2014, the KPK government appointed the PPP MPA as the chairman of the DDAC. Earlier, it was reluctant to give the funds at the hands of the opposition MPA. However, it is being seen as a positive step towards the launching of development in Chitral.]]>
