Lowari tunnel to open from Saturday

CHITRAL, Dec 30: According to an announcement issued from the deputy commissioner office here, the under-construction Lowari tunnel will open for traffic on coming Saturday, Sunday and Monday (Jan 4, 5 and 6). However, the announcement did not mention if the schedule was the final or it would be changed. Some residents here were of the view that the initial three-day opening was just to facilitate the stranded passengers and ensure adequate quantity of daily-use items in the bazaar of Chitral. After that, the opening of the tunnel would be opened for two days after every fortnight. However, the deputy commissioner office said in the statement that efforts were underway to facilitate the passengers as much as possible.]]>
