APML ridicules govt's offer to airlift Musharraf's mother from UAE

ISLAMABAD, Dec 27: The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) on Friday out-rightly rejected government’s offer to bring the ailing mother of former president Gen Pervez Musharraf to Pakistan, saying the party would make all the arrangements by itself if her health permitted. motherFederal minister for information and broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid had stated that the government was ready to provide an air ambulance to bring Musharraf’s ailing mother from Dubai on humanitarian grounds. Talking to this correspondent, APML leader Aasia Ishaq said: “We don’t need any sort of help from the government. If her health permitted, we’ll make all the arrangements for her return by ourselves. Thank you very much we don’t need any help from you.” About the media reports about Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his flamboyant interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s alleged secret meeting with one of the members of special court entrusted with the trail of Pervez Musharraf, Ms Aasia said this was just a tip of the iceberg. “This is just a tip of the iceberg…this government has exhausted all its energies to malign Musharraf in different cases with fabricated charges but let me assure you all those out to damage his [Musharraf] reputation will have to kiss the dust at the end of the day,” she maintained. In the same breath, she continued that the vendetta politics of the incumbent regime will reach its logical conclusion soon as all the international media will come to observe ‘which way the fair trial is going’. “This is not fair trial at all and we’ve raising objection over the composition of the three-judge bench time and again and with the recent shocking revelation of meeting with the judges in the dark of the night has further exposed the ill motives of the ruling elite”, she castigated. To a question, Aasia maintained that Genl Musharraf would not leave the country at any cost, saying he will stay here until all the fake cases against him are cleared. “These cases have no other motive except vendetta and Musharraf is a man who will not seek refuge outside Pakistan like Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif”, she maintained. Dr Khalid Ranjha, the counsel for Pervez Musharraf, said they he had already raised objections over the composition of the special court and with the recently leaked out video of secret meetings with a member of the bench, controversy has magnified manifold. “We’ll present the video of the talk-show in the next hearing…promulgation of November 3, 2007 emergency could not be challenged in any civilian court as Musharraf took that step as the army chief…this is not my opinion this is what the law says,” he contended. “Military act cannot be challenged in any civilian court and we still stand by this legal assertion, which is enough to nullify the flimsy allegations being levelled against former chief of army staff,” said Khalid Ranjha, one of the members of Gen Musharraf’s legal panel.]]>
