Transporters asked to be courteous with passengers

CHITRAL, Dec 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral Abdul Ghafar on Thursday said transporters and drivers should serve the passengers in a courteous manner and facilitate them during their travel. drivers copyIn the context of Chitral, it is very important that the passengers should be facilitated by the transporters, he said, adding the district administration would fully support the union in carrying out their job. Newly-elected president of the drivers union Mumtaz Ali Jan on the occasion promised that they would work day and night for the benefit of the passengers. He announced that one seat in every flying coach will be offered to students without fare. “Our association will play its due role in elimination of passengers’ problems at the bus stands.” He thanked the additional assistant commissioner M. Ikram and the district administration for their support. He demanded opening of the Lowari tunnel on a daily basis because in case of closure of the Lowari tunnel for five days drivers would face lots of hardship by staying in hotels in Chitral and Dir and spending huge amount of money on their accommodation.  He said Lowari top road was in a very dilapidated condition from Ziarat to Ashriat and three accidents had already occurred there during the last a few months. He demanded that the district administration should depute a sweeper at the bus stand of Chitral on a permanent basis. He also demanded weekly checking of petrol pumps of Chitral regarding their weigh machines.]]>
