Protest camp set up in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Dec 23: A group of people from Chitral here on Monday set up a protest camp outside the Peshawar Press Club against the closure of the Lowari Tunnel and demanding the government should keep the passageway open for traffic on all days of the week.

The demonstrators displayed banners and placards at the protest camp against the closure of the tunnel and in favour of their demands. Speaking on the occasion, former member national assembly Abdul Akbar Chitrali and Chitrali trader leader Sadiq Amin demanded the release of the required amount to Sambo, a Korean company, which was executing the project, to reopen the tunnel for traffic.

They said due to the closure of the Lowari top road, people of Chitral remained stranded and were suffering a lot.
