Kalash festival near conclusion

CHITRAL, Dec 21: The winter festival of the Kalash people of Chitral having a unique culture and traditions will conclude here on Sunday.

Known as Chitramas, the concluding day of the festival coincides with the new calendar year of Kalash who lived in the three segregated but adjacent valleys of Bumburate, Birir and Rumbur in the southern Chitral.

The chief event of the day is the prediction for the new year for which their religious leaders watch the movement of the fox which they followed in the nearby forest. The festivities in the Kalash valleys touched their climax on this day.– Zahiruddin
