PPP delegation takes up Chitral's issues with KPK governor

CHITRAL, Dec 15: A delegation of PPP leaders from Chitral met Governor KPK Engineer Shaukatullah Khan in Islamabad and discussed with him various issues being faced by the people of Chitral. governorThe delegation comprised PPP MPA and former provincial minister Saleem Khan, Suleman  Shah, Sardar Hussain, Javed Akhtar of Drosh and Arshad Shaheen of Dir upper. The delegation requested the governor to order speedy work on the construction of the Boroghil and Torkhow roads. Hew as also requested to order the maintenance of roads to the Kalash valleys of Bumborate, Rumbur and Berir which had been damaged in the August floods. They demanded changing the schedule of light and heavy traffic through the Lowari tunnel because if both the heavy and light vehicles were allowed to cross the tunnel at the time it would create problems for the passengers. They also demanded opening of the Lowari tunnel at least three days a week. The delegation informed the governor that there were 54 colleges (private and government) in Chitral but no university except two campuses of Abdul Wali Khan and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University. They demanded the establishment of a fully-fledged university in Chitral. They also discussed other problems such as that of the border police and requested the governor for implementing a uniform policy of retirement for the border police men. The governor assured the Chitrali delegation that the problems of Chitral would be resolved and their demands would be considered at the highest level.]]>
