CM Khattak orders rehabilitation of Reshun, Shishi powerhouses

PESHAWAR, Dec 8: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed the rehabilitation of the Reshun and Shishi powerhouses with the help of SRSP. khattakMr Khattak asked for the adjustment of the retrenched workers from the said power houses by increasing their salary in line with the provincial government’s policy. He also ordered the start of work on small hydel power stations on streams and nullahs for the electrification of nearby villages. The chief minister issued these directives during a meeting here on the post-flood rehabilitation projects in Chitral. Besides the relevant government authorities, the Sarhad Rural Support Programme representatives and MNAs and MPAs and notables from Chitral were present. The chief minister said the days to waste the taxpayers’ money were over. “Now, we all have to go to the people and chalk out schemes in line with their needs and demands before ensuring their timely execution and quality completion,” he said. The chief minister said in future, electricity produced in the province would not be sold to Wapda and rather it would be used to strengthen local industry. He asked National Highway Authority to open Lowari tunnel two days a week for Chitrali people and make adequate arrangements for clearing snow on Low Pass to enable the mountain-locked valley to connect with rest of the country. Mr Khattak also ordered early reconstruction of roads and bridges destroyed by floods in the district.  ]]>
